Free Films

I am always up for free things, as free is GOOD!

However the sites below are technically breaking the law, so you could end up in jail. There are loads of formats out there, based on flash players but they aren't great quality wise and you can't keep a copy of the movie locally so they are pointless. The best format is DIVX.

You need to get the divx web player : http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/
You need to ensure the movie will be saved on to your hard drive after you watch it. To do this click on the Preferences icon on the bottom right hand corner of the player. Take a look at http://labs.divx.com/files/DivXPlayerUserGuide.pdf for the full spec.

I like these sites :
But there are loads of them out there. Just let the player load the whole movie and if your prefernces are set correctly you can keep a copy of the movie to watch later.

Set your self free - you don't need microsoft

Right, first of all I don't hate microsoft because it's a huge conglomerate, it just makes me annoyed when people don't know there are other options to Microsoft products. Try googling "alternative to ...." and see what you get.

There are millions of free pieces of software out there that do they same thing you are paying good money for. I'll list below some examples:
  • Email Client : Outlook Thunderbird
  • Browser : dump slow Interner Explorer and get Firefox
  • Office Application : save your self a few hundred euros and get Open Office
For the really adventurous try a free operation system...... If you have an old PC that is not used any more go to http://www.ubuntu.com/ and have some real fun.

The Bluett Rant

Right, I just need some where to let it all out ...........

First of all Isn't the internet great? I'm old enough to remeber having no internet, when you had to remember stuff. You had no calendar, no email, no text reminders from Google. But You also didn't have to answer your boss at 3 am when he can't read his email in Singapore.

I'm not sure what this blog will be used for but if your reading this then you must be bored so here a few things you should do....

Set up a google account https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount and then
  • go to https://www.google.com/ig and add a few gadgets to your new home page. I believe Yahoo started this lark but the google onw is the most useful.
  • get on gmail and get rid of spam. GMAIL is a little different than most mails as it is fast and has useful tools etc.
  • Get a blog like this and let it all out !!!!!!
For the cynics reading this, I don't work for google, I work for my self ( http://www.bluett.ie)
